The Bandes desentaforades series collection was born with the aim of recovering from oblivion quality works of renowned Mallorcan composers that rest, hidden, in the archives of the various bands of the island. These are original handwritten works or arrangements for band which once were popular but have been left in a corner due to the lack of easy-to-read published materials adapted to the reality of today’s wind bands.

The orchestral symphonic poem La vida by Mallorcan composer Pere Miquel Marquès was never premiered, but when Maestro Marquès died on 25 February 1918, Jaume Albertí i Ferrer arranged the funeral march of the 5th movement in one night so that the band of the 61st Palma Infantry Regiment could play it the next day at the Maestro’s burial.
